Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.  ~Margaret Mead

Since my unanimous appointment in January of 2019, I've been hard at work learning about Walker and the ins and outs of municipal government. I've worked with the City to map residential areas based on race/ethnicity, density, and housing price to better understand our community and prioritize services and needs. I've connected with Veteran's groups, AARP, and low income residents to support and help grow services in Walker and the region. I'm currently actively involved in the Master Planning process and am excited for what the future holds for Walker.

Having grown up in West Michigan, I have a strong understanding of the traditions of our area, from Pulaski Days, to Festival of the Arts, strong faith communities and a growing appreciation for diversity, the Grand Rapids area has always been a bit of a dichotomy that brings together the best of conservative and liberal values. As a result we find ourselves situated as one of the top places in the nation to live and raise a family. As a young adult, I left West Michigan to see the world. I lived in South Korea for 2 years, Chicago for 10 and made the decision to return home about 12 years ago to marry my high school sweetheart. The experience of living in widely diverse places, has helped me develop the kind of fresh ideas and innovative perspective that can help Walker maintain it's character as it continues to develop.  I hope you'll support me in retaining my seat on the Commission so I can continue to represent all the citizens of Walker as we finalize the Master Plan and build our vision for the next 20 years.

Work to  be done

Because the citizens of Walker recently approved term limits for elected officials, it is imperative that we work to build a pipeline of talent that understands city government. Following are a sample of projects I've started and will continue to work on to achieve this goal.
  • Active community outreach promoting our events and meetings via social media and through home/business visits when possible.
  • Create a series of video tutorials to explain city government, initiatives, and opportunity for involvement.
  • Connect residents with city and county leaders and opportunities to engage on issues and initiatives that interest them.
